The series is based on Cindy Callaghan's book of the same name Just Add Magic. The show's storyline revolves around a mysterious magic cookbook that three young friends named Kelly (Olivia Sanabia, Extant), Hannah (Aubrey Miller, Austin & Ally), and Darbie (Abby Donnelly, Suburgatory) get their hands on while looking through the attic one day, that belonged to Kelly's grandmother. In every episode they create a recipe or more that all have an added special ingredient that activates the magic. When watching the show, viewers will find out the story behind curses that have been spelled, and the story behind the magic cookbook while another mystery unfolds.
