From the multiple award winning Pumpkinheads book series that portrays diverse and relatable characters in familiar situations as a tool to encourage social and emotional growth comes Peanut's Mistake and Imagine.  These books tackle important topics in a fun and non obvious way.  I absolutely love these books as a parent and as an added bonus my kids really enjoyed it too.
Peanut's Mistake is the perfect read for little ones.  It teaches children that mistakes happen, and in the end it's about learning from them.  My almost 3 year old seemed to enjoy and understand the story very well, but it was also great for my 7 year old who is very tough on himself to read.  It's one thing hearing these messages from mom, but was great to see it in a book too.
Imagine is a beautifully playful book that my kids loved reading.  It was silly and playful then a message about how everyone is the same.  It is so playful and exciting as it excites children's imagination.  A message in the end inspiring kids to dream and imagine, which is a Pumpkinheads specialty.

You can tell these are written by a parent, they are full of great messages and even a quick little message making the book even sweeter - sometimes accompanied by advice or a activity.

The author Karen Kilpatrick is a mom of 3, attorney and award-winning author who believes that qualities such as courage, kindness, tolerance and appreciation can be taught.  "It's never to learn character building concepts, escpecially from fun books."
